| Hi, I am Bob Baurys and I've struggled with chronic muscle pain and unrelenting fatigue for the past several years. I went from doctor to doctor, spent thousands of dollars, yet found little relief. I was struggling to keep up at work and deal with the overbearing pain. My nights consisted of falling asleep as soon as I made it home to the couch.
It was a very frustrating time in life. I searched for information and kept getting conflicting points of view. My list of symptoms grew weekly and it was hard to discern normal from abnormal. It was on one of those confused, dark moments several years ago that I created www.eFibro.com. The goal for this site was, and continues to be, a haven where those with Fibromyalgia could share ideas, tips, and find support during trying times.
Fortunately, I was able to find a medical doctor who helped me get my life back. He listened to me and tested for viruses, low immunity levels, thyroid functionality, and hormone levels. The appointments were an hour long, un-interrupted and focused on my issues. For once, it felt like I was actually making progress. He understood because he too suffered from the same symptoms while attending medical school.
Soon, my life was good again! My energy was returning and the pain was becoming manageable. My functionality started increasing and soon I felt strong enough to put together a business plan and raise the money to establish the Fibromyalgia & Fatigue Centers, Inc.
Sadly, family practice doctors are faced with overwhelming challenges of trying to manage hundreds of conditions/diseases and then fight with insurance companies to get paid. It is no wonder most doctors are forced into 15 minutes or less appointments. This system is simply broken.
Please utilize eFibro as a gathering place of understanding fellow citizens, be respectful to each other and most of all - please support each other through the difficult periods.
This board is not meant to provide medical advice, but rather provide support from fellow humans battling the same issues. Please check with your doctor before engaging in any type of treatment etc.
